Harvard graduate student Connie Goodwin, cleaning up her grandmother's abandoned home near Salem, finds clues that lead her to the physick book of Deliverance Dane, a witness to the witch trials of 1692. The investigation and book lead Connie to fear, however, that she may be linked to those events of long ago in heretofore unimagined ways.
