Perky Kinsey Millhone is an appealing private eye based in California's Santa Teresa. She is hired by ex-con Daggett to deliver a cashier's check for $25,000 to one Tony Gahan, address unknown. When a few days later, Daggett's body is washed ashore, Kinsey discovers many people with motives for murder, including Daggett's wife, who faced an intolerable marriage; his daughter, who hated him; and the families of the victims of his drunken driving. Some strong language and some descriptions of sex.
